Refund Policy (One-time Purchases)

Overview

This article covers refunds for single tutorials purchased on CGCircuit. Because products are digital and access begins immediately after purchase, refunds are limited and reviewed case-by-case.

Key terms

  • Accessed
    • Watching more than a minimal preview, defined as over 10% of the total runtime.

  • Defect (eligible for refund)
    • Recording quality defects: corrupted files, missing or unusable audio, unusable resolution, or broken download links.
    • Misleading presentation: the title, description, or product page is materially inconsistent with what you actually receive.

Example: a course titled "Fluids in Houdini" that barely covers fluids and focuses on unrelated topics.

    • Non-resolvable playback/download compatibility: videos cannot be streamed or played, or example files cannot be downloaded, on supported browsers and devices that meet our system requirements, and the issue cannot be resolved after troubleshooting.

  • Not defects
    • Teaching style, pace, accent, curriculum choices, or level of detail.
    • Issues caused by unsupported or obsolete hardware or software, environments below our system requirements, corporate or security firewalls, or insufficient and unstable network connections.

  • Project files
    • The absence of project files is not a reason for a refund. Before purchasing, check the product page's "Example Files" table to confirm what is included.
    • Exception: If “Example Files” explicitly states files are included and they are not provided, this is treated as misleading presentation.

Refund rules

  1. 14-day cooling-off period (if not accessed)

You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase, provided the product has not been accessed (see Key Terms above).

  2. After access

Refunds are available only for recording quality defects, misleading presentation, or non-resolvable playback compatibility, as defined above. We will attempt to fix or replace the content first. If that is not feasible within a reasonable timeframe, we may offer an exchange (optional) or a refund.

  3. Form of refund

At CGCircuit's discretion, refunds may be issued as a payment reversal to the original method or as store credit of equal value.

  4. Purchases made with promotions

If your order used a promotion, coupon, discount, or bundle deal (e.g., Black Friday), we factor that into our review. Promotional purchases are not excluded by default, but we may:

    • apply stricter anti-abuse checks,
    • prefer store credit over a payment reversal,
    • deny a refund if we detect patterns of abuse.
  5. "Contact the author" pathway (at our discretion)

We may ask you to contact the tutorial author directly to work out a solution, including a possible refund. We will provide the simplest way to do so, such as a direct link or messaging channel. If a good-faith resolution is not reached, CGCircuit will adjudicate under this policy.

  6. Verification and timing

We review objective usage signals (e.g., watch-time percentage). For playback issues, we will request your system info, browser and version, OS, network details, and the troubleshooting steps you have already tried. Once verified and approved, payment refunds typically complete in 5–10 business days. Store credits are usually faster.

Abuse & Fair Use

We want refunds to be fair for both customers and creators. We review behavior over time, not just a single order.

  • Patterns we consider abuse: multiple refund requests across different purchases in a short window, for example, 2 or more within 60 days or 3 or more within 6 months, especially when usage is substantial.
  • Customer history matters: long-time customers who have never requested a refund before may be approved even if some content was consumed. New customers who immediately request a refund after substantial use may be considered as acting in bad faith.

What this means in practice: we review objective signals (like watch time) and your overall history on CGCircuit. Based on that, we may approve, deny, or offer store credit instead of a payment reversal.

How to request a refund

  1. Write to info@cgcircuit.com with the subject line: Refund request.
  2. Include: order number, purchase date, product link(s), a brief reason, and, for playback issues, your system and browser details, plus the steps you have already tried.
  3. We will review and reply with the next steps.
